Salvana's Restaurant
If you're wandering around Barrow-in-Furness and your cravings start leaning toward hearty Italian comfort food with a side of vibrant cocktails, Salvana's Restaurant on Cavendish Street is a name you’ll want to remember. This cosy, welcoming spot has been quietly earning a local reputation for bringing bold, flavour-forward dishes to the table-whether you're popping in for a quick bite or lingering over dinner and drinks with friends.
The vibe? Think relaxed yet buzzing. Salvana's manages to strike that sweet spot between casual dining and indulgent experience. With wheelchair-accessible seating and entrance, it's friendly for most diners, though you’ll want to keep in mind there’s no dedicated accessible car park. Still, once you step inside, the warm service and inviting aromas pretty much wrap you in a culinary hug.
Now let’s talk food-because this is where Salvana’s truly shines. Their Pepperoni Pizza is a crowd favourite, boasting a crispy base and just the right amount of char, while the Volcano Pizza turns the heat up for those who love a spicy kick. Not into pizza? Don’t worry, the pasta menu reads like a love letter to Italian cooking. The Seafood Tagliatelle, featuring mussels, king prawns, and salmon, is a must-try if you enjoy rich, briny flavours. For something even more decadent, the Seafood Carbonara adds a luxurious twist to the classic Roman dish.
Meat-lovers aren’t left out, either. The Chicken Meatballs with Aubergine and Gnocchi are as comforting as they sound, while the Rack of Pork Ribs, served alongside gammon, egg, and chips, packs in both flavour and nostalgia. Those after something with a unique twist might lean toward the Squid Ink Risotto with King Prawns-a dish that’s as striking visually as it is on the palate.
Salvana’s also surprises with creative small plates. Imagine nibbling on Cheesy Garlic Bread while sipping a Liqueur Coffee with Cointreau, or starting your meal with Salt and Pepper Squid served with Aioli Sauce, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender within. Even their vegetarian options-like the Penne Contadina or Stilton Wedges-offer satisfying complexity in both texture and taste.
The dessert game is just as strong. If you’ve got room left, the Banoffee Pie and Sticky Toffee Pudding with Pecan Sauce are highly recommended-sweet, sticky, and just indulgent enough to leave you planning your next visit before you’ve even finished the last bite.
Drinks-wise, Salvana’s doesn't disappoint. Their wine list is solid, with options to complement everything from seafood to grilled meats. Cocktails are another highlight here-balanced, boozy, and crafted with flair. The restaurant also serves beer, spirits, coffee, and even happy hour drinks, perfect if you’re just dropping by for a laid-back evening.
Service is personal and unpretentious-staff are attentive without hovering, and they seem genuinely enthusiastic about what’s coming out of the kitchen. It’s the kind of place that feels just as comfortable for solo diners as it does for a lunch meetup or a casual dinner date.
Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite, settling in for a full three-course meal, or just chasing down a perfect cheeseburger and pint combo, Salvana’s Restaurant stands out for its consistently delicious food, well-thought-out menu, and warm atmosphere. It’s the kind of place where dishes are made with care, flavours are full-bodied, and everyone leaves just a little bit happier than when they arrived.

Excellent food, exceptional and friendly service. The owner even stopped by our table to ask how everything was - which is a rare sight nowadays. My fiance and I had a lovely Valentine's Day thanks to Salvo and his wonderful staff! Will definitely come again!
This was a nice wee find. Staff were attentive and friendly. The tables were clean and spacious. I ordered a seafood risotto dish that came hot and tasty, although the risotto was slightly undercooked. While not perfect, if I had time. I would have considered a second. On the wall was a notice about not using Scottish money. Being scottish, it felt a bit unwelcoming. However, used my card, so electronic scottish money no problem apparently.
Great food, great service and the most excellent pizzas. We turned up early on a Friday night without a booking. Expecting it to be quiet but it wasn't so. However, the waitress very quickly found us a table and brought us our pizzas in no time. They were great
Absolutely loved visiting here today, the food, the service, the atmosphere were excellent. I was a little apprehensive at first when I saw the prices of meals, what we were actually going to get. I needn't have worried. Best meal we've had in a long time, excellent pork, excellent carbonara.
Lovely restaurant Very attentive servers who are really polite and helpful. I had garlic bread and salt and pepper shrimp with aioli sauce for starters. Wow that sauce is amazeballs. The mains were meatballs with gnocchi. Tbh, it was well cooked but probably not my cup of tea. I felt the prices were decent. Some other guests in there were quite loud though but no fault of the restaurant.
